[ Rachel watches as Chloe begins her climb, a self-satisfied smile on her face. It wasn't a matter of whether or not Chloe would scale the side of her house, but rather a question of when (because she had no choice, and because that's just how the two of them worked– Rachel had ideas, Chloe said yes; because she was loyal, because they were in love, and because Rachel was Rachel and Chloe was Chloe). ]
Dunno'... I kinda' like the whole having to scale the side of the house in the dead of night thing. It's romantic.
[ Rachel is right behind Chloe and clearly having less trouble (because she'd drunk less, had worn a reliable pair of flat converse, and had done this more times than she could count).
If she'd been even a little tipsy before that's forced out of her system when Chloe just nearly slips– Rachel reaches out to grab her on instinct (even though they both know she doesn't have the upper body strength to do anything). ]
Woah, easy there Price. I'm cool with you dying as long as it's with me– but I don't think this is how either of us want to go.
[ And because Rachel is Rachel she makes declarations like that without a second thought. She says it like it's half a joke and half not, so it's hard to tell if she's being serious or not in implying she'd be upset if Chloe up and kicked the bucket without her.
(It's not a joke)
The rest of the climb transpires without much incident; Rachel's room is dimly lit by string lights and pleasantly warm. It's not the first time Chloe has been here after hours, but it's the first time she's been here overnight and under the flag of being "Official". ]
I'll take my jacket back if you're done with it.
[ Never mind that Rachel had forced her into it in the first place. ]
